Easiest way to start writing

I've said it so many times before and I won't get tired of saying it.

If you don't know what to write about, start brain dumping.

And in case you don't know what "brain dumping" is, lemme explain.

Brain dumping is an easy to do process and all you need is a blank document.

Or a blank piece of paper and a pen if you prefer that route.

What I do, is set a 5-30 minute timer and proceed to get everything out of my head onto the empty canvas of choice.

For the next 5-30 minutes, I pretend as if the delete button (or backspace if you're on Windows) doesn't exist.

And if I'm using pen and paper, I'll do my best to make zero edits on my writing.

The writing gonna look horrendous.

It'll look like your brain vomit on the blank canvas.

But, that's a good thing because you're being raw.

You're writing your raw emotions, ideas and stories.

And when you do that, sometimes you'll find diamonds in the rough that come in the form of ideas or stories.

Then you can take that idea or that story and hone it.

You treat it like a rough edged sword.

And you work this rough edged sword until it becomes a sharp blade.

One thing I've noticed about myself and maybe you've noticed it in yourself, is that we have some killer ideas.

The challenge is recognize them and writing them down.

That's a level 1 mistake.

When you brain dump, you don't worry about losing your best ideas in the mix.

You find them, work on them and sharpen them until they become the sharpest tool in your shed.

I hope this helps you start writing soon.

Till next time my peeps,

Alex "brain dump" Garcia out.
