Live like you're dying
You are going to die.
Nope, you read that right.
I'm going to die too.
I love the way the bible puts it into perspective for us.
James 4:14 (NASB) says "Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away."
Wow.
We are a vapor that appears for a little while and then *poof* we're gone.
So, this idea that we're going to live to be 100 years old is bogus.
We put off doing "the thing" that we've always wanted to do because we believe we have lots of time left.
In case you didn't know it already, time's ticking, and it doesn't stop for anyone.
Are you tired of procrastinating doing "the thing" you know needs to get done?
Are you willing to sacrifice hours of watching your favorite tv shows?
Well, give yourself a round of applause and keep on reading.
A little less than a year ago, I was watching 4-6 hours of YouTube...a day.
And as much as I hate to admit it, some days I was watching 8 hours.
So, what changed?
I started living like I was dying.
As morbid as that sounds, nothing's worked better to cure my lack of motivation.
It continues to help me be super intentional with my time.
Knowing you're going to die can be depressing for some to think about.
But it also lets us know that we don't have time to waste on things that don't matter.
To me, what matters the most is strengthening our relationships.
What kind of relationships am I talking about?
Well, my general rule of thumb is this.
#1 If it doesn't help me strengthen the relationship with myself, it's not worth doing.
#2 If it doesn't help strengthen the relationship with me and the people I'm here to serve, it's not worth doing.
And
#3 If it doesn't strengthen the relationship with me and my creator (God), it's not worth doing.
So, start living like you're dying and I promise this will put any lack of motivation to rest.
