Open your free gift
Ok, I’ll admit it.
Today’s email was kinda clickbaity.
I do wanna ask you a quick question though.
Have you opened your gifts today?
I’m not talking about birthday presents.
Or
Christmas presents.
I’m talking about gifts of everyday life.
“Alex, what do you mean?”
If you’re reading this email, you got gifted another day of life.
Not only were you gifted another day of life, but you also got gifted the ability to see.
Some people didn’t get to wake up today.
Think about that.
And others got to wake up today.
But they woke up without the ability to see.
These are just a few gifts that, if opened, could really change your perspective on life.
Sadly, most people leave them unopened.
And I used to be one of them.
No matter how much stuff I had, I wanted more.
I didn’t feel satisfied.
I felt like the Grinch on the night of Christmas lol.
I’d get my ideal 7-8 hours of sleep.
And I still walked around with a long face.
I felt like I deserved everything I had and more.
But then I took a trip to Mexico with my parents and my younger siblings.
That trip was one of my favorites.
No, not because of the food.
And, don’t get me wrong, I love me some birria straight from Mexico.
Oof, that’s some good stuff.
No.
And it wasn’t because of the trips that we took to the beach either.
It was because I got to see and witness firsthand what life was like in Mexico.
I stayed there for a month.
During that month, my eyes were open.
In Mexico, not everyone has a car.
In Mexico, not everyone has hot water.
In Mexico, not everyone has a job.
Despite their circumstances, they were still glad.
Immediately, I realized I was directing my attention to the wrong things.
When I got back from Mexico, I landed on a piece of scripture that really helped me change my attitude.
It was James 1:17 and it says…
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
So, don’t leave those gifts unopened.
Incorporate a system into your daily life where you give thanks under all circumstances.
Open your gifts.
You’ll be glad you did.
That’s it for today my brothers and sisters.
Thank you for reading and have a blessed rest of your day.
Alex “adopt an attitude of gratitude” Garcia out.
